2018 IGFA Conservation Award - Theresa Labriola

Theresa Labriola is Pacific Program Director for Wild Oceans which partnered with the IGFA to develop and pass the Billfish Conservation Act.  Labriola has worked diligently to remove drift gill nets from California waters and replace them with environmentally-friendly deep set buoy gear by reaching out to policy makers such as the National Marine Fisheries Service, Pacific Fishery Management Council and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.  One of her greatest contributions is building a coalition among recreational anglers and environmental groups, including CCA California, IGFA, ASA and Wild Oceans.  Her leadership in bringing these groups together has been successful in influencing fisheries policy.
